While the players around the table (and the loser) of a bad beat will often be overjoyed to see extra money coming their way, the winner of a bad beat will often be furious. What is a Bad Beat?
A bad beat typically means that two players battle over very good hands during betting and one comes out ahead. Two qualify for a bad beat, both hands must usually be four of a kind (8s or better) and they must use both of their “hole” cards. So, if these two rules are not met, there is no bad beat.

After the above are met, the following occurs with the remainder of the jackpot:
50% is received by the loser
25% is received by the winner
$1,000 is received by every player in the game
The remainder is split between the players at the table.
