American Express Poker Websites – AMEX

by admin on September 22, 2009

We’ve been writing a series of poker articles focusing on a common question from novice online poker players, “How do I get my money online”? In this segment, we’ll discuss American Express poker sites.

Traditionally, credit cards are the easiest, safest and fastest way to get fund an online poker account. American Express is a preferred method, but is not supplied nearly as frequently as other credit cards, like visa and MasterCard.

We’ll start by providing a comprehensive list of online poker rooms that accept American Express (AmEx) credit cards. Then, we’ll give you a brief walkthrough of how to use AmEx for online poker deposits.

American Express Poker Sites
The following online poker rooms accept American Express as a viable deposit method.

Only Poker
Poker Host
Full Tilt Poker
Ultimate Bet
Absolute Poker

Both of these online poker rooms, Only Poker and Poker Host, are a part of the Cake Poker Network, welcoming players from around the world, including US players.

Unfortunately, that’s about all you’ll find in the AmEx Online Poker department. There are several “no-risk” poker rooms, meaning players do not make deposits or play for real money, but without accepting deposits, we found it rather pointless to list them here.

AmEx for Online Poker Deposits
In this last section, we’ll give you a quick run-down of the process taken to deposit via American Express at AmEx poker rooms.

1. Login to your online poker account.
2. Click over to the Cashier/Banking section.
3. Choose to make a deposit / purchase chips.
4. Select Credit Card as your preferred deposit method.
5. Fill in the form with your 16-digit credit card number, expiration date and any other required info (name, address, etc.) Be sure to select American Express (AmEx) as the type of credit card being used. You may be asked to supply the CVN from the back of your card. This is a 3-digit number that verifies the card, found on the back-middle of your AmEx credit card. Input the amount you wish to deposit and click submit.
6. Within one minute, you will receive confirmation of your deposit. The funds are instantly available for use in your online poker account.

Note that some players may experience a rejection notice when attempting to deposit via AmEx, or any credit card for that matter. US players are the most prone to this rejection notice. If this occurs, please be aware that it is your credit card company that has declined the transaction, not the online poker room. The chance of being rejected varies from one online poker room to another, but seems to be fairly random.
